What the pool cost calculator prices
The calculator prices a fibreglass pool installed in South East Queensland: the shell and its standard installation, the extras you tick, and the site conditions that change the excavation. It asks whether the pool is going into an existing backyard, forms part of a new house build, or replaces an old pool — a replacement adds a demolition question the other two never see.
Each size bucket — small/plunge, medium, large, and family/XL — is priced from the live installed prices of the models that sit in it. That is the same pricing behind the fibreglass pool prices we publish, so the range moves when our real prices move rather than being a number typed into a page once a year.
Why the result is a range, not a single price
A range is the honest form of the answer at this stage, because two identical pools in two different backyards are two different builds. The calculator resolves your pool size against real installed figures, then adds banded allowances for slope, access, spa jets and pool removal. Those bands are wide where the site work genuinely varies and absent where it doesn't. A site assessment is what collapses the range into one fixed written figure.
The four answers that move the number most
Pool size. The shell and its installation is the largest single line, and the gap between a plunge pool and a family-sized pool is the widest gap on the form. Browsing pool sizes and shapes first makes this question easier to answer honestly.
Slope. A flat or slightly sloping yard is the cheapest site to build on. As the fall increases we either raise the pool out of the ground using retaining or dropped edge beams, or cut it into the slope. Sloping sites are always workable — they add cost, not obstacles.
Access. Three metres or more of clear access means excavation machinery drives straight in. Under two metres and we're working with smaller machines or lifting the shell in by crane, which the calculator allows for.
Removing an old pool. Full removal of an existing pool costs more than a partial fill-in, and the calculator asks which one your replacement needs.
Interior colour and timeline are on the form too, but neither changes the price — colour tells us what to show you, and timeline tells us when to start.
What happens after you get your estimate
Your range appears on screen at its own link, so you can come back to it or send it to whoever else is deciding. It stays an estimate until someone stands in the yard: book a site assessment and the measurements, soil, access and fall all become fixed numbers in a written quote. Neither step costs anything.
If you want the reasoning behind the figures rather than a number for your own yard, the cost of installing a pool in Australia is broken down line by line.
Common questions
- How accurate is the pool cost calculator?
- It gives an indicative range, not a fixed quote. The range is built from MFP Easy's live installed pool prices plus real allowances for slope, access, spa jets and pool removal, so it lands close for a typical site. The final price is confirmed by a site assessment.
- Why does the calculator show a range instead of one price?
- Because site conditions change the build. Two identical fibreglass pools can differ substantially once slope, access and demolition are counted, so the estimate is expressed as a range with banded allowances for those conditions rather than a single figure that would have to move later.
- What is included in the estimate?
- The pool shell and its standard installation for the size you choose, plus any extras you select — heating, an automatic pool cleaner, a water feature, or spa jets — and allowances for yard slope, machinery access, and removing an existing pool where that applies.
- Is the pool cost calculator free?
- Yes. The calculator is free and carries no obligation. You see your price range on screen as soon as you finish the questions.
- How long does the calculator take?
- About a minute. It asks seven questions: project type, pool size, extras, yard slope, access width, interior colour and timeline, with an extra question about removing an old pool if you are replacing one.
- Does the interior colour change the price?
- No. Hamptons Blue, Silver Mist, Autumn Grey and Moonlight are all priced the same. The question is there so MFP Easy knows which finish to show you in your design. A fixed written quote comes separately, from a free site assessment where a consultant measures the yard and confirms the fall and access.
