What sizes and depths do round fibreglass pools come in?
Round fibreglass pools come in two diameters in our range, 3m and 4m, and both shells hold a level 1.45m depth.

That level floor is usable across the whole circle. A 400mm-wide bench seat runs around the entire perimeter of the small round pool shell, there is an entry step, and spa jets are available as an option. The shell can be installed fully inground or partially out of the ground.
The 3m and 4m round shells sit at the bottom of a much wider ladder of fibreglass pool sizes. Our range has no round shell above 4m.
Eighteen feet is 5.5 metres and 24 feet is 7.3 metres. Those two round diameters come from steel-panel pools with vinyl liners rather than from moulded fibreglass: US supplier ProPools sells round pool kits at 15, 18, 21, 24 and 28 feet, built from 52-inch 14-gauge steel walls with a vinyl liner. A steel-panel pool with a liner is assembled on site from wall panels and a liner, where a moulded shell is made in a factory and lifted into the excavation in one piece.
What does a round fibreglass pool cost installed?

The step from the 3m shell to the 4m shell is $11,152 for one extra metre of diameter.
A small shell is not proportionally cheap. Excavation, the crane, filtration and council approvals barely shrink when the shell does, so a 3m round pool costs more per litre of water than a large pool does.
The 4m round Infinity 4 costs $58,385 installed and the 4.5m x 3.5m rectangular Latina costs $57,141 installed, so the two sit within about $1,250 of each other. With a moulded shell, price follows footprint and depth rather than outline.

Round, oval or rectangular: which pool shape should you choose?
At a plunge footprint the moulded shape set narrows to round and rectangular, and the round vs rectangular plunge pools decision turns on depth profile and on where the shell can physically go in the yard. Oval is not a third option. Oval appears in pool-shape vocabulary as a geometric outline with curved ends, but no manufacturer we install moulds a true oval fibreglass shell. A buyer searching for an oval pool in fibreglass is choosing between a circle and a rectangle with radiused corners. Depth is the first difference. A round fibreglass pool holds one level 1.45m depth from wall to wall, and the floor is usable end to end at that single depth. A rectangular plunge pool has a graded floor from 1.05m at the shallow end to 1.78m at the deep end, so one shell carries both a shallow end and a deep end. Neither shape swims laps at this footprint.
Placement is the second difference. A round shell has no long side, so it drops into a square corner or a courtyard where a rectangle of similar area will not sit square to the boundaries. A rectangle gives a straight swim line the circle does not have.
A precast concrete plunge pool is the other circular product commonly sold in Australia. A fibreglass shell has a smooth non-porous gelcoat interior that never needs resurfacing; a precast concrete interior is porous, uses more chemicals and needs resurfacing.

Can you buy a round fibreglass pool shell or kit?
No. No round fibreglass shell is sold as a DIY kit in Australia. The kit sellers stock rectangles, slimlines, beach-entry and kidney shells, and the round pool kits on the market are steel-wall vinyl-liner packages rather than fibreglass. ProPools prices its round steel-wall kits from $11,694.90 to $15,000.11 in US dollars, which is what the kit components themselves cost.

Is a round fibreglass pool the same as a plunge pool?
Yes. A plunge pool is a compact pool, smaller and usually shallower than a full-size pool, and a round swimming pool at a 3m or 4m diameter sits inside that definition. Do round fibreglass pools need council approval in Queensland?
