Fibreglass Pool Depth: Depth Chart by Pool Model
Fibreglass pool depths in metres: shallow and deep end for every model in the MFP Easy range, floor profiles, the depth ceiling and diving rules.

The MFP Easy range includes 40 fibreglass pool models. Shallow-end depths range from 0.90 m to 1.45 m. Deep-end depths range from 1.00 m to 2.00 m. Each model has specified depths that cannot be changed.
Most models have a graded floor that slopes from the entry to the deep end. Four models have a level floor:
- Infinity 3 and Infinity 4: 1.45 m
- Bastia and Elba: 1.00 m
The maximum available depth is 2.00 m. The Amalfi, Saint Louis and Kensington reach this depth. An 8-foot, or 2.44 m, deep end is not available. No model supports a diving board.
Pool length does not determine depth. The Saint Azur is the longest model at 11.48 m and has a deep-end depth of 1.96 m.
Each shell is manufactured as one rigid piece in a factory mould and transported to the property by truck. Queensland pool fencing requirements apply to every model because all shells are deeper than the 300 mm fencing threshold.
How deep is a fibreglass pool?
The 40 fibreglass pool models in the MFP Easy range have shallow-end depths from 0.90m to 1.45m and deep-end depths from 1.00m to 2.00m.
Most models have a graded floor, with separate shallow-end and deep-end measurements. The floor starts at the entry end and slopes towards the deep end. The deepest models reach 2.00m.
Four models have a level floor:
- Infinity 3: 1.45m
- Infinity 4: 1.45m
- Bastia: 1.00m
- Elba: 1.00m
All other models have a graded floor. There is no average depth for the range because each model has different dimensions. For an adult, the shallow ends are generally around waist to chest height, while the deep ends are over head height.

The shallow-end and deep-end figures are measured to the moulded floor. On a graded floor, the depth changes along the length of the pool. For example, the Portofino is 1.10m deep at the entry end and 1.60m deep at the far end. On a level floor, the depth is the same at both ends.
Pool length does not determine pool depth. The Latina is 4.50m long and has a 1.78m deep end. The Elysian is 8.30m long and has a 1.75m deep end. Check fibreglass pool sizes and depths for the specific model.
Published shell dimensions are approximate. Thursday Pools states that actual lengths, widths and depths can vary by about 2 to 3 per cent. Latham and SwimUSA state a variance of up to 3 per cent. Leisure Pools states that measurements are taken at the widest outside edges and are provided as a guide.
The table shows shell depth. Your finished water depth is confirmed in your quote after the site is measured.

The range covers it: most families with young kids want a shallow end the kids can stand in, which is exactly how the majority of our shells are graded, and for the swimmers and the tall blokes there are models running to a full two metres in the deep end. People arrive picturing the deep pool they grew up with, then spend the next twenty years standing in the shallow half talking. Pick the depth for how you'll actually use it.”
How deep can a fibreglass pool be?
The maximum depth in the MFP Easy fibreglass pool range is 2.00m. Three models reach this depth:
- Amalfi: 9.00m by 3.60m
- Saint Louis: 9.5m by 4.0m
- Kensington: 11.00m by 4.00m
Fibreglass pool shells have fixed depth profiles. They are moulded and cured as a single piece in a factory. MFP Easy does not offer custom depths or deepen existing shell designs.
Transport requirements also affect shell dimensions. Each shell is transported by truck and craned into the excavation as one piece. The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator sets general-access heavy-vehicle limits of 4.3m in height and 2.5m in width. Loads that exceed either limit are classified as oversize and require a Class 1 permit.
Other Australian manufacturers list similar depth ranges. Premier Fibreglass Pools Australia lists a 7m by 3.6m shell with depths from 750mm to 1.6m. It also lists a 10.4m by 4.4m shell with depths from 980mm to 1.87m. Both have maximum depths below 2 metres.
Pool length does not determine pool depth. The Saint Azur is the longest shell in the MFP Easy range at 11.48m by 4.45m, but its maximum depth is 1.96m.
The depth of each model is listed in the fibreglass pool range. If you require a depth greater than 2.00m, concrete is the appropriate construction method. Endless Pools & Spas AU states that concrete pools "can be built to any shape, size, or depth".
Can you get an 8-foot deep fibreglass pool?
No. The MFP Easy range does not include an 8-foot (2.44m) deep fibreglass pool. The maximum depth is 2.00m.

Some US fibreglass models have an 8-foot deep end. These models use very long shells. River Pools & Spas (US) publishes the following depth ranges by shell length:
- Pools up to 27 feet long: 3.5 to 5.5 feet deep
- Pools from 27 to 35 feet long: 3.5 to 6.5 feet deep
- Pools from 35 to 44 feet long: 3.5 to 8.5 feet deep
An 8-foot deep end is generally available only on US fibreglass shells that are about 40 feet long. The deepest recorded fibreglass shell is 8 feet 6 inches, or about 2.59m. These US models are 16 feet wide and 40 feet long. They are not available here.
The MFP Easy range includes depths up to 6 feet, either as a shallow end or a deep end. It does not include depths of 7 feet or more because its maximum deep-end depth is 2.00m.
Can a fibreglass pool have a deep end, a flat bottom or one depth?
A fibreglass pool can have either a sloped floor with a deep end or a level floor with one depth. The MFP Easy range includes both designs. “Flat bottom” and “one depth” both mean a level floor.
Most shells have a floor that slopes from the shallow entry end to the deep end. The Sheffield ranges from 0.98m to 1.96m over a length of 8.00m. The Bellino ranges from 1.06m to 1.84m over 6.50m.
Four shells have a level floor:
- The Bastia is 1.00m deep and 3.2m long.
- The Elba is 1.00m deep and 4.0m long.
- One round model has a 3m diameter and a depth of 1.45m.
- One round model has a 4m diameter and a depth of 1.45m.
The Bastia and Elba are compact shells designed for soaking rather than swimming. The round shells do not have a shallow or deep end.

Five terms are commonly used to describe pool floors and depths: flat bottom, one depth, hopper, sport bottom and V-bottom.
“Flat bottom” and “one depth” describe the level floors in the round shells, the Bastia and the Elba.
“Hopper” is a US term for a shaped deep well. River Pools & Spas describes a 40-foot shell with about 12 feet of flat floor at a depth of 3.5 feet, followed by a 13-foot ramp and about 14 feet of water at a depth of 8 feet.
“Sport bottom” and “V-bottom” are also US terms. The MFP Easy range does not include hopper, sport-bottom or V-bottom shells.
All MFP Easy shells except the four level-depth models have a deep end. The maximum deep-end depth is 2.00m.
Can you dive into a fibreglass pool or add a diving board?
No. The shells we install are not diving pools. Models in the MFP Easy range do not support diving boards.
The Royal Life Saving Society Australia states in its Visiting Your Local Swimming Pool fact sheet that swimmers should not dive into water less than 2 metres deep.
Royal Life Saving Australia provides additional requirements in Interpreting safe diving guidelines (5 February 2026). The guidance requires 7.0m of clear space in front of a dive. The first 5m should have at least the recommended water depth.
The deepest shell in the MFP Easy range reaches 2.00m only at its deepest point. A graded shell does not maintain a depth of 2.00m for the first 5 metres from the entry edge.
The 2.00m maximum depth is determined by the mould. The published depth for each model is the mould’s maximum internal depth and does not change after manufacture.
Latham, Thursday Pools and SwimUSA also classify their moulded pools as non-diving. They prohibit diving equipment unless otherwise stated and do not manufacture or sell diving boards or slides.
Leisure Pools states that pools at least 2.50m deep are suitable for a diving board, while shallow pools around 1.50m deep are suitable for games. No model in the MFP Easy range reaches 2.50m.
What depth should you choose?
Choose a floor profile based on who will use the pool. The depth is fixed for each shell and cannot be specified separately.
The range has three floor profiles:
- A graded floor starting near 1.0m. The Sovereign ranges from 1.00m to 1.63m. The Empire ranges from 1.00m to 1.75m. The shallow end provides standing-depth entry for a small child, while the deep end is suitable for an adult to swim.
- A level 1.45m round shell. The round range includes 3m and 4m diameter models. Both have a depth of 1.45m across the full pool. This is chest-to-shoulder depth for an adult and over a small child’s head. There is no shallow area.
- A 2.00m deep end. This depth is available only with the 9.00m Amalfi, 9.5m Saint Louis and 11.00m Kensington. A shell must be at least 9 metres long to provide this depth.
A shallow entry can improve usability, but it does not make the pool safe for a small child. Supervision and a compliant barrier are required. Royal Life Saving’s National Drowning Report 2025 states that in 2024/25, “drowning deaths of children under five fell to 15 fatalities, 21% below the 10-year average, and half in home swimming pools”. Royal Life Saving’s national drowning data identifies backyard swimming pools as the leading drowning location for children aged 0 to 4.
Barrier requirements apply to every depth in the range. Queensland law defines a swimming pool as a structure “capable of being filled with water to a depth of 300mm or more”. The QBCC states that fencing is required at this depth. The Building Act’s pool fencing provisions are recorded in the Queensland Government’s Amendments to the pool fencing laws. Under the Act, every residential outdoor swimming pool must have a fence before it is filled with water “to a depth of more than 300mm”. The QBCC requires the fence to be “at least 1200mm high (measured from finished ground level to the top of the fence)” with a “maximum gap of 100mm”. Every shell in the range is deeper than 300mm at its shallowest point, so all models require a barrier.
FAQs
Is a 1.1m pool deep enough?
A depth of 1.10m is suitable for an adult to stand in, but not for swimming. On a graded pool shell, this measurement applies to the shallow entry end. The Serenity ranges from 1.10m to 1.47m, while the Portofino ranges from 1.10m to 1.60m.
Is a 1.5m deep pool enough to swim in?
Yes. Round shells in the MFP Easy range have a consistent depth of 1.45m. Most deep ends in the range are between 1.5m and 2.0m.
A depth of about 1.5m is standard for swimming in a moulded pool. In a small pool, length is more likely than depth to limit swimming.
Is a 2m pool deep?
The maximum water depth in the MFP Easy range is 2.00 m. This depth is available in the Amalfi, Saint Louis and Kensington pools.
A depth of 2.00 m does not meet the full safe-diving requirements when forward clearance is considered. Royal Life Saving Society Australia advises against diving in water less than 2 m deep. Its guidelines also require 7.0 m of clear space from the pool edge, with the recommended water depth maintained for the first 5 m.
Why are fibreglass pools shallower than concrete pools?
Fibreglass pools are moulded with a fixed floor profile and delivered as a single finished shell. The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator sets general-access limits of 4.3 m in height and 2.5 m in width. A truck requires an oversize permit to carry a load above these limits, so transport requirements restrict shell dimensions.
Endless Pools & Spas AU states that concrete pools “can be built to any shape, size, or depth”. A concrete pool is therefore required for depths beyond 2.00 m.
Does a deeper fibreglass pool cost more to install?
Depth is not priced separately. You select a pool model, and deeper shells are generally longer. The installed price therefore depends on the pool model, not a per-metre depth charge.
